HORSE RIDING AT KEFALONIA, IONIAN SEA

Kefalonia is with its 781 square meters the largest Ionian Island. It´s history is round about 4500 years old. Just a few holidaymaker know the beauties of this island. High mountains with green valleys among them, rivers and streams with crystal clear water coming from the top of Mount Ainos, 1628 meters high. Just here (and in Canadia) you find the black kind of fir trees. The view from the monasteries up on the mountains will take you a breath away as well as the hidden caves and old ruined villages, which make up the island of Kefalonia. It is also the richest island in vegetation south west of Greece.

If you like riding under the greec sun and enjoy nature at the same time, you should visit our horse riding stable.You have the chance to ride our well trained Haflinger Horses, who are the right kind of horses for safe trail – rides in montainous areas, on old donkey – paths, gallop at the beach or cross olive groves and swimming in the sea. We visit old ruined villages, destroyed by the earthquake in 1953 and see the most interesting sights – everything on horseback. All our riding tours are guided by a qualified FN German Horse Riding Teacher. You can take riding lessons in dressage and jumping.

Our horses are all in a very good condition. Even if it is your first time on horseback, you will enjoy our trails. People who are not interested in horse – riding will find a wide range of activities. Waterskiing, scuba diving (diving school 5 km from Sami), motor– and fisherboat – trips to Ithaka and to empty bays … our island is made for hiking and mountain – biking. In Sami, which is an international port, you can rent bicycles, cars or motorbikes. You also find a variety of restaurants, cafes and bars. Don’t forget to try the delicious traditional greec food.

Our guest – house is in Koulourata, 6 km away from Sami, surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees, overlooking the 1628 meters high Mount Ainos. The rooms have a suitable equipment with shower, toilet and cental heating for the winter. We also offer a barbecue – grill, a spacious citchen, a wide garden and a terrace for all our guests. In summertime there is a public bus going to Sami twice a day. From Sami you have connections all over the island. Our accomodation is the perfect starting point for all our riding trips and other excursions.
